本種は熱帯～亜熱帯に広く分布し、バナナを含む様々な植物の害虫としても知られている。日本では北海道～奄美大島で記録があり、パッションフルーツ等の果実、野菜や観葉植物などを加害する。本州では主にハウス内で発生が見られるが、最近、多摩川沿いや三浦半島で野外から採集されている。

This species is widely distributed in tropical and subtropical areas, and causes many kinds of crops including bananas. In Japan, it has been recorded from Hokkaido to Amami-ohshima Island, but it has been occured in house at temparate area. Recently, however, it is collected from Poaceae in Kanto-region of Honshu.
